BJP slams appointing Muslim officers in minority areas September 06, 2007 17:25 IST The Bharatiya Janata Party on Thursday expressed concern over the reported directive of the government to post Muslim police officers in Muslim-dominated areas of the country. "It's a matter of deep concern that the Department of Personnel and Training has issued a directive to the states Union Territories to ensure that Muslim policemen be posted in police stations and posts with large Muslim population," BJP spokesperson Ravi Shankar Prasad said. The letter also contains directions to have more Muslim teachers and health personnel in minority-dominated areas, the leader said in a statement. He said the government's move had serious "constitutional vulnerability and sinister implications for the unity and integrity of India".
